Un Code Retreat (http://coderetreat.com/) est une intense journée de pratique sur les aspects fondamentaux du développement logiciel. C'est un aspect important et souvent oublié qui permet d'augmenter la maintenabilité et de réduire le coût de changements à long terme.

Les portes ouvrent à 9h30 et la journée commence à 10h.

L'évènement est bilingue - anglais et français seront utilisé, tout dépendant des participants.

 Déroulement

Vous allez faire six sessions en paire sur le Game of Life de Conway. Le TDD est fortement encouragé. Le facilitateur pourrait proposer certaines contraintes afin de vous faire réfléchir autrement. Chaque session est suivie d'un court retour sur ce qui a été appris.

Comment puis-je me préparer?

Vous aurez besoin d'un laptop avec au moins un environnement de test de votre langage favori. Par exemple JUnit (Java), NUnit (.Net), Rspec (Ruby) ou Jasmine (javascript) sont tous de bon choix. Tous les langages sont les bienvenus.

Nous vous demandons aussi d'apporter une power bar (ça peut toujours être utile!).

Vous pouvez également amener une souris et un clavier afin de faciliter la programmation en paire.

What will we do?

You will program Conway's game of life six times, each time with a different partner (and possibly a different programming language). The facilitator might propose a challenge for each session to make you think out of the box. Each session is followed by a short retrospective on what was learned.

What do I need to get prepared?

You'll need to bring your laptop with a test environment of your favorite programming language. For example JUnit (Java), NUnit (.Net), Rspec (Ruby) or Jasmine (javascript) are all fine choices. Don't let this list fool you though - all languages are welcomed.

We also ask you to bring a power bar (it can always be useful).

If you can bring another mouse and a keyboard, it will facilitate pairing sessions.
